Kasia and I decided to try something different and went to the Vancouver Chinese New Year Parade. What an explosion of energy and colour!
We were equipped with the Fuji X100S and Fuji X-Pro1 plus XF 60mm F2.4 R combo.

Wow! A real colour test for any camera! And I thought the Indians used colour well? That is fantastic. I can’t imagine the work that goes into those costumes.
dpawson,
Indeed, it was quite the show of patterns and colour!
Thank you for visiting.

Such rich colours. Were you using Astia for another simulation. I’m assuming, of course, that as per a previous post, you were using Jpeg for skin tones. If so, did you boost the colours in camera? And how do you set Highlight and Shadow tone? I’ve been setting -1 for both, but then I seem to always end up having to boost the blacks and whites afterwards.
A great set
Simon,
We cheated ☺ When photographing people we usually use JPEGs for fantastic Fuji skin tones, however, this time the parade was taking place in the middle of the day/strong sun. We also had time constrains due to another assignment. As a result, I had to work with RAW files in Capture One.
While shooting JPEGs we usually set up our camera as follows: if outdoors – Astia (S), Sharpening +1, Highlights -1, Shadows 0. I hope it helps.
Thank you for visiting.

Thanks for the info. Really helpful.
One more question please. Was there a particular reason for using Capture One this time? Usually you use Iridient and LR5.
Thanks again,
Simon
Stunning colours. Seems really energizing 😛
Thomas,
Thanks,
Olaf
