Project R-A-I-N – Follow Up

Thank you so much for your overwhelmingly kind response to my “From Fujifilm X100 to Fujilove” blog post and accompanying announcement. It’s good to be among friends! J

Today I would like to update you on our ongoing R-A-I-N project. The heavy R-A-I-N in the last few days provided me with new opportunities. I had the chance to shoot for a few hours yesterday with the X100F in downtown Vancouver. While it was a very wet day (of course!) it was also unusually warm – the temperatures hit 15C during the day.

Photographing with the X100F is very easy due to its lightness and size. I often need to hold on to my umbrella and shoot with one hand and the X100F is perfect for that. The biggest issue for me has been the lack of weather-proofing. When shooting with my X100F I had to be very careful not to get my camera wet (I was working with the X-Pro2 in pouring rain and never ever had any problems).

For a few years now I have been shooting in challenging weather conditions: rain, wind or snow. And I find the visual possibilities exceed sunny days. Of course, there are plenty of challenges but it’s all worth it.

In fact, I love photographing in the R-A-I-N so much that I’m now offering a special workshop “Project R-A-I-N: Vancouver” which I will be leading this February. I am really looking forward to this experience and would like you to join me if you are going after unique and stunning imagery.

You can find more info here.

Below please find a few recent images from our project R-A-I-N, all taken with the X100F.

  1. Thank you Robert,

You promised there would be no rain last time I visited! 🙂 Seriously, thank you so much for your kind note. I hope we will be able to get together soon.

    All the best,

  2. Serious draught in Spain. No possibility to shoot R-A-I-N for a long time (Olaf, you took the last and scarce water to BCN). Enjoy it as much as you can, as much as I enjoy your R-A-I-N imagery. It’s special, very special, love the third one, the umbrella against the lights. A pleasure!
